In other news, a CryptoPunk didn’t attract much attention in a Sotheby’s auction.
The most expensive CryptoPunk ever, which was sold for $23.7 million in 2022, was transferred for an undisclosed amount on Aug. 19. Its former owner, Deepak Thapliyal, posted a farewell message on X, as the NFT was sent to a new unlabeled address.
While Thapliyal did not disclose the amount the NFT was sold for, community members speculated that the NFT was sold at a loss. With only one alien CryptoPunk available at $13.36 million in the market, a community member believes that the previously most expensive NFT was sold for about the same price.
