Fox and Ronin Ecosystem Enters Strategic Partnership with Polygon
Leading Layer 2 scaling solution Polygon recently announced two separate strategic collaborations with Fox Corporation and Ronin Network with a focus on blockchain innovations.
These major partnerships seek to explore the use of Polygon’s zero-knowledge (ZK) technology to enhance scalability and security across the blockchain gaming and media content verification ecosystem.
Ronin and Fox Corporation to Leverage Polygon CDK
Ronin, the blockchain behind the Play-to-Earn (P2E) game Axie Infinity, has unveiled its plans to leverage the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK).
The Layer 1 network which pioneered Web3.0 gaming, is working on enabling the permissionless creation of L2s in its ecosystem. It highlighted that builders on the Ronin blockchain will soon get access to create their own zk Ethereum Virtual Machines (zkEVM) L2 chains with Polygon CDK
For Jeff ‘Jihoz’ Zirlin, Axie Infinity’s co-founder, this collaboration is pivotal because of the significant scalability improvements that will accompany it. Additionally, Zirlin identified the potential of building more games throughout the permissionless deployment. He believes that it is crucial for Ronin to align more closely with Ethereum, especially through the AggLayer.
In the long run, this will encourage greater integration beyond the current state of the Ronin bridge.
Media network firm Fox Corporation has also debuted an L2 chain leveraging Polygon CDK. The company is working with rollup-as-a-service platform Gelato to transition the beta version of Verify to a dedicated ZK blockchain. Based on its design, Verify can tell whether an image or article truly originates from a publisher. Although, the media file must be registered on its platform for such verification.
Its transition into a dedicated chain, supported by the latest integration with Polygon ZK technology, is aimed at improving the functionality of Verify. Once implemented, Verify can transparently prove the authenticity of registered articles, images, and other media files that are supported on its system. Fox Corporation is optimistic that this move will foster more adoption on the platform.
One of the perks of this integration is that it eliminates the competition for resources on Polygon Proof-of-Stake (PoS) while increasing the capacity for content registration on-chain.
ZK Technology Goes Viral Amongst Builders
Meanwhile, the utilization of ZK models is fast gaining traction amongst Web3.0 developers and organizations.
RISC Zero, a zk-STARKs-based zero-knowledge verifiable general computing platform recently announced the launch of zkVM 1.0. It utilizes ZK proofs for the development of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) based apps across different blockchains and this makes it different from previous protocols.
Amongst the features of the ZK solution is its cost-effectiveness and better performance metrics are touted by the RISC team.
Similarly, Kadena, a scalable Proof of Work blockchain, announced a partnership with Lurk Lab to build a ZK tech stack on the Kadena blockchain. The focus of this potential solution is to pave the way for provably secure cross-chain messaging.
Many of these builders believe that ZK cryptography is critical to building a world of fast, reliable, and interoperable blockchains. Their integration and collaboration moves reflect their commitment to harnessing the potential of the ZK ecosystem.
