Baldur’s Gate 3 revealed that only 10% of the players beat the Honour mode since the difficulty level was released. Developer Larian Studios revealed that out of the 1.3 million attempts, only 141,000 successfully completed the mode.
The Honour game mode reportedly increases the opponents’ strengths while restricting players to one save. Players have to devise different strategies to beat the mode.
Honour mode still tough to crack eight months after release
Larian Studios released the new Honour mode a few months after Baldur’s Gate 3 launch. The mode reportedly maximized the opponents’ strengths and restricted players’ save slots to just one.
Days after the mode’s release, the developer announced that 34,000 players had attempted the new mode. However, it added that 464 gamers had succeeded in finalizing the mode.
Eight months after the release, Larian Studios officially announced the number of gamers who had successfully completed the mode so far.
141,660 brave souls completed Honour Mode.

Baldur’s Gate revealed an infographic during the game’s first anniversary. The infographic indicated that out of the approximately 1.3 million attempts on the mode, only 141,660 players completed the mode with no party deaths. 1.2 million players, on the other hand, reportedly registered failures. According to the developer, successful players account for only 10% of the total attempts, illustrating their advanced gaming skills.
Successful players devise strategies to beat the mode’s final boss
Larian Studios stated that only 24% of the gamers continued playing after their failures, while 76% discontinued their games.
The 24% who chose to continue reportedly switched to Baldur’s Gate 3 Custom mode. The custom mode is said to allow players to carry on with their progress from the Honour mode despite the failure.
Larian also revealed that successful gamers devised various strategies to achieve their wins. The developer pointed out a gamer who beat the mode’s final boss by throwing a helmet at it.
Other players are said to have devised strategies such as summoning the undead, using Gale as a tactical nuke, and weaponizing walking.
Larian also revealed that 658,000 gamers slept with a mind flayer while only 30% preferred the Bear. The developer stated that over 1.1 million gamers preferred to sleep with the Emperor in Baldur’s Gate instead of the tentacles.
“Over a quarter of you can’t be trusted to not pick a fight with a djinni, and a surprising amount of you enjoy bear sex and tentacles.Who’d have thought?”
The game is reportedly in the running for a game-of-the-year title as it continues to draw thousands of players.
Larian Studios announced new features in the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7. These include the mod manager, split-screen gameplay, and evil endings.
