Apple to Roll Out iOS 17 to Users from September 18 Onwards
During its iPhone 15 launch earlier this week, tech giant Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) also announced that iOS 17 will be available to users to download for free from September 18 onwards. The company had previously announced the software update earlier this year in June.
However, Apple had earlier rolled it out only to the beta users since it was willing to address some bugs. iOS 17 will introduce significant changes to key apps like Phone, FaceTime, and Messages for iPhone users. Meanwhile, iPad users can expect the addition of the Health app, expanded widget functionality, and new options for customizing the lock screen as part of the update.
The upcoming iPhone update will bring voicemails to FaceTime, allowing users to leave video messages for their contacts. Messages will feature an enhanced search function and a group chat catch-up feature. Additionally, Apple is introducing Standby mode, which will transform the phone into a bedside clock when placed sideways on a table or nightstand.
Some Features of iOS 17
iOS 17 introduces StandBy, transforming your iPhone into an information hub when it’s connected to a charger. While on the locked screen, you can access customizable full-screen information such as the time, Live Activities, incoming notifications, and an array of widgets.
Another groundbreaking feature is NameDrop. With NameDrop, sharing contact information becomes effortless; simply bring your iPhone close to another person’s iPhone or Apple Watch 3.
iOS 17 also empowers users to add interactive widgets to both their lock screen and home screen, offering support for both first-party and third-party apps.
Furthermore, iOS 17 enhances FaceTime with the capability to record and send audio/video messages, incorporate 3D effects into your video, and initiate a FaceTime call directly on Apple TV.
