Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to dominate discussions at the upcoming World Government Summit (WGS) in Dubai from Feb 12-14. With its transformative potential across various sectors, the summit-themed “Shaping Future Governments” aims to explore AI innovation and governance. Over 100 leaders from top AI companies, government officials, and industry experts will convene to empower governments in navigating the AI landscape effectively.
The summit boasts an impressive lineup of attendees, including government leaders such as Eygpt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, and Under-Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property of the United States (US), Kathi Vidal. Additionally, prominent figures from AI companies, including the CEO of Open AI, Sam Altman, and the CEO of NVIDIA, Jensen Huang, will contribute their insights to the discussions. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will also make an appearance for an in-conversation session, adding a touch of star power to the event.
Agenda Highlights and Themes
The summit’s agenda is focused on bolstering governments’ role in addressing AI challenges and harnessing its potential for progress. Featuring six main themes and 15 forums, the WGS 2024 edition will delve into various facets of AI, including responsible governance, education, and infrastructure development. Of particular significance is the Artificial Intelligence Forum, which aims to forge multi-sector partnerships and advance responsible AI practices. Discussions within the forum will seek to establish global consensus on ethical AI principles, enhance AI capabilities through education and infrastructure initiatives, and formulate future policies conducive to AI-driven innovation.
It will also host over 23 ministerial meetings and roundtables, along with 85 international, regional, and intergovernmental organizations participating in more than 120 interactive sessions and workshops.
