Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama said in a joint statement that they believe Harris has the “vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands.”
All of the top figures in Democratic politics are now openly supporting Harris, who is on her way to the nomination just days after President Biden withdrew and endorsed her. Obama tells Harris over the phone that:
We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.

In addition, Michelle Obama tells Kamala, “I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”
Obama was reportedly one of more than 100 senior Democrats to whom Kamala Harris spoke after President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidency run last Sunday.
In a statement at the time, Obama praised Joe Biden’s exit but did not endorse Kamala Harris. Harris tells the Obamas,
This means so much to me. I am looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both, and getting out there, being on the road. But most of all, I just wanna tell you that the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express.

With Obama’s endorsement, Harris has received support from all prominent Democrats and party leaders in Congress. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries all joined in endorsing Kmala.
