Binance Co-Founder Asks Elon Musk To Address Crypto Scams on X After Her Followers Get Hit With Wallet Drainer

The co-founder of Binance is asking billionaire Elon Musk, who owns the social media platform X, to address the crypto scams proliferating over the website after her followers fell victim to a wallet drainer.

In a new thread, Yi He tells her followers that a scammer is posing as her on X to trick people into clicking fraudulent links that drain their crypto wallets.

“I have not issued any new memecoins. Clicking on the link will result in your money being stolen. Many people were tricked by this hacker link and lost a significant amount of money today. Is there any way to address this issue, Elon Musk?”

According to He, one of her followers who clicked the link lost 60 Ethereum (ETH) worth about $215,853 at time of writing.

“I noticed that a fake account has impersonated me and some users have been scammed. It’s been reported to me that someone has clicked into a malicious link and 60 ETH was stolen. @heyibinance is my only account.

And BNB is the only token that I endorse. Please stay alert to such fake accounts. And if you spot any of these fake accounts, please report it to X to help prevent others from being scammed.”

Last month, A new report from bug bounty platform Immunefi found that crypto losses from hacks and scams dipped greatly over the last year. According to the firm, $473.229 million worth of digital assets were lost from January to May, compared to the $595.438 million drained during the same period in 2023 โ€“ a 20% decrease.
