BitMEX Extends Its Partnership Deal with Soccer Club AC Milan
BitMEX crypto exchange has prolonged its existing partnership with AC Milan, one of the major Italian football clubs. Since 2021, BitMEX has been the club’s official cryptocurrency trading partner. Now, the exchange has been named as AC Milan’s premium partner.
Within the extended partnership, AC Milan and BitMEX will join efforts on various initiatives and share innovative ideas to excel at their respective domains, as per the press release.
Casper Stylsvig, the Chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan, commented:
“We are happy to continue our journey alongside a partner such as BitMEX, with whom we intend to take further steps forward in the path of digitalisation, innovation, and growth of the Club, but also to support the many charitable initiatives promoted by Fondazione Milan.”
Stephan Lutz, CEO & Group CFO of BitMEX, added:
“We are thrilled to reinforce our partnership with AC Milan. Beyond the philanthropic projects we have worked on together, we both appreciate and applaud the spirit of competition and the sense of connection that comes from it. At BitMEX, we strive to include connection and competition in the services and products we offer – our new social trading feature Guilds allows traders to team up as a Guild and trade against one another.”
Partnerships between football clubs and companies involved in crypto business are not new. Their popularity is increasing nowadays due to the mutual benefits offered by these collaborations to both the parties.
In case of BitMEX and AC Milan, the implant of the club’s brand name and logo is a great marketing strategy that will give the company visibility to millions of football fans around the world. On the other hand, for AC Milan, its fanbase will be able to access the BitMEX platform and benefit from exclusive offers designed for the registered fans of the soccer club.
Joint Initiatives of AC Milan and BitMEX
Previously, AC Milan and BitMEX jointly launched an NFT collection. Called “Born to Lead”, the collection included limited edition NFTs. The aim was to celebrate epic achievements and iconic moments in the history of the Rossoneri. The collection features club legends Franco Baresi, Daniele Massaro, and Massimo Ambrosini. Notably, the NFTs were accompanied by short documentary films that gave an in-depth analysis of the historical AC Milan moments celebrated by the collection.
All the proceeds from the collection sales were donated to Fondazione Milan, the club’s non-profit arm that focuses on supporting football and charitable initiatives around the world.
Earlier, BitMEX was reportedly paying 5 million euros (about $5.6 million) per year to sponsor AC Milan. The terms of the new deal have not been disclosed.
