BNB Chain to Expand Layer 2 Network with RaaS Debut

BNB Chain, one of the world’s leading blockchains for Web Decentralized Applications (DApp) has launched a Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) solution to facilitate the expansion of custom Layer 2 networks within its ecosystem.

Raas Solution to Support dApp Projects

Evolution is not uncommon in the crypto world and the primary aim of the RaaS solution is to support dApp projects with the infrastructure needed to create cost-effective dedicated rollups on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC), including no-code deployment options.

The BNB Chain core development team emphasized the importance of RaaS, in a release stating:

“By combining the power of RaaS and the interconnectivity capabilities of our ecosystem, developers will have a comprehensive toolkit to build efficient and scalable Layer 2s on BSC.”

According to current data from the largest DeFi data aggregator DeFiLlama, BSC is the third-largest blockchain in terms of Total Value Locked (TVL), with $6.1 billion in TVL, trailing only Ethereum ($56.7 billion) and Tron ($10.5).

Notably, the BNB Chain ecosystem consists of five distinct networks which include a Layer 1 blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), existing Layer 2 solutions opBNB and zkBNB, the data storage network BNB Greenfield, and the BNB Beacon Chain, which is set to be phased out and its functionality migrated to BSC.

Layer 2 Networks built on the BSC network are linked by opBNB Connect, which is intended to allow interoperability within the ecosystem as part of the “One BNB” project to meet the requirement for an integrated technology stack.

Roadmap for BNB Greenfield

In December, BNB Chain published its roadmap for BNB Greenfield, which includes numerous intriguing advancements that blend Web2 performance and Web3 features to improve user experience.

BNB Chain built the Greenfield roadmap using three design principles. The first requirement is that the blockchain function well enough to compete with the majority of Web2 providers. This allows for speedier processing of transactions and other on-chain activity.

While maintaining the blockchain’s high performance, the second design element, a simpler development experience, ensures that the Greenfield platform is user-friendly and accessible. This makes navigating BNB Greenfield simple for developers of all skill levels.

The third concept is that, although BNB Greenfield is a BNB Chain platform, it operates as a multi-chain network. Developers could create several blockchains and design projects that allowed for smooth interaction between dApps on different blockchains.

Overall, all of BNB Greenfield’s characteristics pave the way for the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI). BNB Greenfield’s decentralization, innovation, and transparency make it easier to deploy AI and create an enabling environment for AI and Web3 integration, which might last beyond 2024.

BNB Chain highlighted at the time that the next step is to improve storage provider performance while improving upload and download speeds by five times in Q2/Q3 2024.
