Etihad Airways Offers New Product to EY-ZERO1 NFT Holders, Plans to Launch Web 3.0 Loyalty Program
Etihad Airways, an United Arab Emirates national airline, has released an expansion to its EY-ZERO1 non-fungible token (NFT) collection. The new 300-edition expansion, which goes live today, promises EY-ZERO1 holders a slew of new benefits. Those include priority check-in, Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, as well as the chance to stake their NFTs to earn miles.
Etihad Airways first launched the EY-ZERO1 NFT collection in July 2022. Holders of the original EY-ZERO1 NFTs had access to exclusive benefits such as the Etihad Silver Tier status for one year. They were also granted access to an NFT holders’ event at the Yas Marina Circuit Formula 1 race.
The new limited edition, however, offers a wider range of digital and real-world rewards. To mention a few, holders of the new collection would be offered a 12-month Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, priority check-in, lounge access at Abu Dhabi International Airport, a 25% increase in earning Etihad Guest Miles, Etihad Virtual Club membership, and a customized membership card.
Etihad Airways Reveals Plans for ‘Horizon Club’ as Airlines Expand Deeply into NFTs
Meanwhile, Etihad Airways is also looking to tap into the growing popularity of Web 3.0 loyalty programs. In line with this, the airline is planning to launch a program it calls the “Horizon Club” in September. Etihad will also be introducing a staking-for-miles program in which community members may lock up their NFTs to earn Etihad Guest Miles. The Miles earned can then be used in exchange for flights, upgrades, and other bonuses.
It might be worth mentioning that NFTs are gradually becoming a thing of attraction to the aviation industry. For example, NFT ticketing company TravelX collaborated with Spanish airline Air Europa in April 2022 to launch a series of NFT tickets. In March, low-cost Argentinian carrier Flybondi also tapped TravelX with a similar aim to offer all tickets as NFTs on the Algorand blockchain. While in late May, Japan’s airline giant All Nippon Airways (ANA) also launched an NFT marketplace.
Regarding its new NFTs, however, Etihad Airways saw help from its official Web3.0 partner Arcube. Whereas, infrastructure firm Crossmint will continue handling all cryptocurrency or credit card payments that concern the airline.
