Rockstar has recently removed almost two dozen missions from GTA Online, a change that came as a part of the latest weekly update. The removed content consists of 4 Adversary Modes and 19 Race Series.
This is not the first time GTA Online has lost content, although it has been getting new content regularly since 2013. In most of the cases, developers provide reasons for content removal from the game.
Four Adversary Modes and 19 Series were removed from GTA Online
The latest weekly update came on 22 August, in which four Adversary Modes and 19 Series were removed from the game. The removed Adversary Modes comprise of Assault on Cayo Perico, Casino, Missile Base, and Bunker. Hints were given about the removal of these modes earlier on 15th August.
Besides that, the 19 Races that were removed from the game include:
- Cayo Perico Series
- Crossing Paths
- Downtown Underground
- Grass Route
- Issi Classic races
- Known Unknowns
- Overtime Rumble
- Rancho Rivalry
- Senora Freeway
- Unknown Knowns
- Criminal Records
- Dockyard
- Grapeseed Circuit
- Graveyard Shift
- Just Deserts
- Mudslide
- Pier 2 Pier
- Scenic Route
- Taxiing
Regarding the rotations, Rockstar gave hints on 15th August, mentioning that it has plans to rotate select Racing Series and Modes “in and out.” However, not much information was given about the extent of these rotations.
As of now, it is not clear whether the removed missions will return to GTA Online. Most of the fans do not seem very pleased with the decision by Rockstar, and some are even speculating that Rockstar may be planning to add the removed missions in a GTA+ membership. However, no such plans have been hinted by the developers yet.
How does this compare with previous rotations?
The current rotation of content happened 14 months after GTA Online cut out almost a quarter of the vehicles during the San Andreas Merceneries update.
Earlier in May, the developers also removed in-game emails, an update that remained unpopular among the gamers. Considering the recent update on 22 August, the new Assault on ATT-16 Adversary Mode is packed with content. It will feature two teams competing against each other across various stages on ground, in the air, and at sea.
