HCM City to partner with Nvidia

Mai said that the city is not looking to only adopt AI technologies, but it wants to become an AI hub in Vietnam, when he received the Nvidia delegation and Strier on April 26.

The chairman also mentioned that the city administration has designated local public departments and sectors to start working on integrating AI, initially in education, urban development, administrative management, and health care.

The People’s Committee leader said that he is convinced that the city administration and Nvidia have many collaboration prospects, bringing attention to the fact that the HCM City has enough manpower pool, organizations, and other prerequisites for cooperation in AI development and deployment. He vowed to work with the chip giant on the expansion of artificial intelligence technologies to establish itself as an AI center in the region.

A joint working group should be formed jointly by both sides to lay out a vision, direction, and objectives for AI development and application, suggested Mai.

He said HCM City has a rich pool of IT talent due to a widespread system of hundred plus universities, so both parties should start cooperating in human resource training as soon as possible for AI development.

Nvidia is willing to lend a hand

Strier appreciated HCM City’s willingness and preparations for AI development, endorsing Nvidia’s willingness to join the city to promote artificial intelligence. He also said that due to the complex nature of the AI technology chain, the city needs to continue updating its information technology infrastructure and advancing the workforce skill set and capacity of local businesses in order to cope up with the expansion of AI.

The Nvidia official said that the organization hopes to collaborate with HCM City, also stating that Nvidia’s investors are also interested in the Vietnamese market for development cooperation.

He said that the company has the potential to train workers in the AI industry and will also arrange free courses to help people educate on AI technology. He also added that Nvidia will play its part in supporting the local businesses, and he wishes that HCM City will develop as one of the top five cities in AI.
