The complaints claimed that Meta’s recent privacy policy changes would allow the company to utilize years of personal posts, private images, and online tracking data for its AI technology.
On June 5, Meta Platforms received 11 complaints concerning its proposed changes to how it uses personal data for training its artificial intelligence models without obtaining consent. These changes may potentially violate European Union privacy regulations.
The privacy advocacy group None of Your Business (NYOB) called on national privacy watchdogs to take immediate action to stop such use. The 11 complaints were filed in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Spain.
