NYC Parents Push for Pioneering AI-Focused High School

Inspired by the new wave of technology-driven jobs, NYC parents propose setting up a futuristic high school centered on AI.

NYC parents’ push for AI education

Five of the Council parents pushed a resolution forward that said, for instance, a specialized status school should have the AI focus on subjects such as languages, the topic would be key, and their country would set a time gap with the others.

In the resolution written with AI’s assistance, parents said NYC is a hub for technological innovation, capital investment, and entrepreneurship, making it an ideal location for fostering AI talent. New York City parents are calling for an AI-themed high school to prepare students to be contenders in the growing tech sector.

Call for AI-centered high school

Parents argue that an AI curriculum would prepare New York City students for the growing industry and allow them to keep up with other cities and countries regarding development, research, and innovation. Delaying the establishment of an AI-themed public high school in New York City would result in a missed opportunity to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the AI field.

This public vote will be held at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday next week. Regarding the high demand for AI workers, the industry’s growth rate is outstripping the number of workers who are getting trained and conducting business faster than other industries. By next year, the industry is expected to reach $190 billion.

The resolution calls for creating a learning program comprising computer science courses, AI, machine learning, and robotics concentrations, contacts with leading universities and innovative companies, and the latest hardware equipment and laboratories. “AI is everywhere, it is everywhere,” emphasized CCHS member Benjamin Morden, an initiator of the resolution. “The broadening of AI instruction in high schools should be where our efforts should be put so that exploring AI as a career will no longer be a course students enroll in, but a path they have already begun.”
