The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has taken significant strides in utilizing advanced AI systems to streamline the entry procedures for pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia to perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage. By collaborating with various government agencies, SDAIA aims to enhance the comfort and safety of pilgrims from around the world.
Integration of projects for pilgrims’ comfort and safety
SDAIA, in coordination with multiple government agencies, has implemented integrated projects during the Hajj season to facilitate the trips of pilgrims and ensure their safe return to their respective countries. Dr. Abdullah Bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of SDAIA, emphasizes the commitment of the Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, to serving the pilgrims and providing necessary support. This commitment is reinforced by the utilization of advanced technologies to meet the pilgrims’ requirements.
Digital empowerment for government agencies
Every year, during the Hajj season, SDAIA ramps up its efforts to create digital empowerment for government organizations functioning during this time. Through the Makkah Road initiative, SDAIA assists in the pilgrims’ travel procedures from different countries to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the authority provides logistical services during the pilgrimage period at the Holy Sites, supporting the Pilgrim Experience Program of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The National Information Center (NIC) plays a crucial role in providing technical support to ports, sorting sites, and security control centers.
Efficient management of pilgrim data
To streamline the entry procedures, SDAIA ensures that pilgrim data is collected before they reach the border crossings. This proactive approach reduces the time required for registration upon entry into Saudi Arabia. SDAIA also collaborates closely with government agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to enhance data integration and optimize the pilgrimage experience.
Leveraging AI technologies for pilgrims’ convenience
SDAIA has harnessed data technologies and artificial intelligence to introduce innovative services aimed at benefiting pilgrims during their Hajj journey. By leveraging these technologies, SDAIA enhances crowd identification management, improves travel and pilgrimage record verification, and validates permit authenticity.
SDAIA has introduced “Banan,” a mobile device designed to identify and verify individuals’ identities based on their vital features. The automation of crowd identification management methods made possible by this equipment makes the pilgrims’ journey more comfortable. Banan also assists in verifying travel and pilgrimage records, as well as the validity of permits, contributing to enhanced security measures.
The Tawakklna app and Tawakklna Services app have become indispensable tools for pilgrims. SDAIA has incorporated several features into these applications, including reviewing the Hajj pilgrims’ card, entering permits for the Holy Sites, providing help services and volunteer cards, offering the Holy Qur’an and prayer time information, and even assisting with Qibla direction services. These apps enhance convenience and accessibility for pilgrims throughout their journey.
Enhancing pilgrims’ journey through advanced AI systems
Through the efforts of SDAIA and its collaborations with various government agencies, the entry procedures for pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj have been significantly streamlined. The incorporation of AI systems and advanced technologies has played a pivotal role in ensuring a comfortable and safe pilgrimage experience. As SDAIA continues to innovate and provide comprehensive support, the pilgrims’ journey to Saudi Arabia for Hajj is increasingly facilitated, fostering a transformative and spiritually enriching experience for pilgrims from around the globe.
