The Shiba Inu (SHIB) name service is set to take off as lead developer Shytoshi Kusama revealed how users can get in early on the service. Kusama also highlighted how this initiative could be a game-changer for the SHIB community.
How To Get Early Access To The Name Service
Kusama revealed in an X (formerly Twitter) post that users can sign up for early access to the name service on D3’s website. D3inc happens to be the firm that Shiba Inu has partnered up with to help obtain the ‘.ship Top-Level Domain (TLD).’
There could be some incentives for those who register for early access, as Kusama said that such persons could scoop “a grail or two before anyone else.” The name service affords users the opportunity to let their “creativity flow” as they have the freedom to decide what their Web3 identity will be, the developer further said.
Meanwhile, Kusama also highlighted how game-changing this initiative could be. First, he laid out a common problem that crypto users encounter, as they have to double-check their wallet address when transacting. Kusama then proceeded to note how ‘SHIB Name Tokens could eradicate this problem and make transacting simpler by substituting the “long, complex wallet addresses.”
These SHIB name tokens are said to be a “multichain, cross-platform username” that will make users’ Web3 journey “way better.” With such functionality, Kusama mentioned how it will be easier to send and receive hundreds of digital assets without complications.
The developer also revealed that the wallets’ compatibility with different platforms will continue to increase as the Web3 space continues to develop. These platforms will include decentralized applications (dApps), games, social media, and “beyond,” according to Kusama.
Shiba Inu’s Big Plan To ‘Invade The Internet’
Kusama had, in an earlier X post, elaborated on how their plans to acquire a TLD could help the SHIB ecosystem disrupt the internet and possibly gain a wider reach. He highlighted how the internet is currently used by 5.3 billion people worldwide, a figure that completely overshadows the total number of users in the crypto market.
Therefore, the plan is to build a domain that allows the SHIB community to build an “identity layer” that works across the internet without the need for special software, Kusama said. With this, users will be able to use a Web3-inclined domain (.shib) to access every part of the internet. Existing internet users can also be easily onboarded into the ecosystem in the process.
The lead developer concluded by asserting that ‘.shib’ users will eventually be able to perform other functions using the domain. This includes hosting a site, sending and receiving emails, and even for online verifications.
