Ubisoft has finally acknowledged the presence of a secret lore-breaking cut post-credits scene in the recently released Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This spurred the imagination of the fans as to what could be the consequences for the game in the future.
The Details of the Enigmatic Clip Open up
Not less than a few months ago, Jean-Luc Sala, the art director of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, was responding to an Ask Me Anything session (AMA) with fans of Assassin’s Creed, subtly referring to the existence of the cut scene using a winky face, expressing his distinct nonchalance perspective with the statement, “All we can say is that what’s not in your playthrough does not exist.”
The data mining showed the set scene included a radio mast in Mirage’s desert location. All of this takes place in the past, immediately followed by an audio discussion between two Abstergo employees presumably discussing the game’s plot and the series in general, placed several hundred years in the future.
Infinity connection with Assassin’s Creed and the potential lore shift
If the cut scene were to be officially included, it would mean introducing a significant divergence from Assassin’s Creed’s traditional approach of narrative presentation which, to date, has been a prominent constant across the over dozen games. By relocating the plot to a future timeline and introducing the idea of impending global collapse, as the main threat to Earth’s survival, the prologue could introduce a new mystery in the series.
As a result of these possible lore changes, the future of the series, with the release of the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Codename Red franchise soon, looks promising. Code name Red is a new game that will be available at the new Assassin’s Creed Infinity launcher/hub/platform to offer future AC releases of different genres and sizes.
Basim’s continuing story
During the AMA event, Stephan Boudon – Mirage’s Creative Director, revealed the potential of the expansion of the storyline of Basim, Mirage’s protagonist. However, Boudon remarked that storytelling for Basim could be continued in another manner. He specified that “We have ideas, but no plan for getting more story content on Mirages.”
This discovery inspires different speculations that claim Basim’s tale line may continue in Assassin’s Creed Infinity and relate his ending to the post-credits scene that was shown during the movie event.
