The Trump Organization is getting ready to launch a proper crypto business. Eric Trump, who’s running the show at the company these days, has hinted that they’re about to announce a major new project focused on cryptocurrency.
Rumors have been flying since Eric posted on Twitter earlier this month, saying he’d “fallen in love” with cryptocurrency.
He teased his followers with a promise of a big announcement coming soon. Now, it’s becoming clear what he might’ve been talking about.
Eric is calling cryptocurrency “digital real estate” and thinks it’s something that could level the playing field in finance. “It’s collateral anyone can get access to and do so instantly,” he said.
He’s got big ideas about how this could disrupt the traditional banking system, which, in his opinion, isn’t exactly fair to everyone. In his own words:
“The system as it stands now can be manipulated. And it is. All the time. I’ve had a unique perspective on how easily people can be kept out of certain markets. It slows everything down. It’s not right.”
While details about the upcoming crypto venture are still under wraps, Eric says they’re working on something big. Confidently, he shared that:
“At some point I think we all want some form of financial independence and a world where we don’t have to play by the big bank’s playbook.”
What’s next for crypto if Trump wins?
If Donald Trump makes it back to the White House in 2024, he says he’s got plans for the crypto industry, and they’re not small.
First on his list? Firing Gary Gensler, the current head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), who’s not exactly popular in crypto circles.
Trump’s also talked about putting an end to what he’s calling the Democratic “war on crypto.”
He’s made it clear he’s against the idea of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the U.S. and wants to keep people like Elizabeth Warren away from the industry.
Trump’s vision for crypto in America includes making sure that cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin, are “made in America.”
He’s even thrown out the idea of creating a national Bitcoin “stockpile” as a permanent national asset, though details on that are pretty vague.
The former president has also promised to turn America into “the crypto capital of the world and a bitcoin superpower.” He wants to put someone in charge of the SEC who will actually support the industry instead of getting in its way.
Trump has also told us that he wants to put an end to “Operation Choke Point 2.0,” which he believes is an effort by the Biden administration to cut off crypto companies from traditional banking services.
He says if Congress passes pro-crypto legislation, he’s ready to sign it into law instantly.
