The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has incorporated the Cardano blockchain into its criminal investigation operations. The announcement was made during the World Police Summit in Dubai, where the Dubai Police demonstrated a Cardano-based pilot project focused on secure data management related to criminal investigations. This project enables the secure sharing of forensic data, including scans of bullets in concrete, with international authorities such as Interpol.
Chris O, the founder of Cardano GhostFund DAO, shared that the Dubai Police’s decision to use Cardano underscores the blockchain’s capabilities in secure and tamper-proof data management. The project presented at the summit illustrated how blockchain technology could facilitate the safe distribution of sensitive forensic information among global stakeholders.
During the summit, the local police department presented a pilot project based on Cardano. The project demonstrated how the platform can securely share sensitive data related to criminal investigations with international authorities, including Interpol. The presentation highlighted the platform’s high level of security in sharing important forensic information, including scans of bullets embedded in concrete, among different international stakeholders through blockchain technology.
Global law enforcement recognizes blockchain’s potential
The adoption of Cardano by the UAE for criminal investigations marks a practical application of blockchain technology beyond its traditional financial uses, demonstrating its potential in securing and managing data in a decentralized manner.
It is important to note that the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom announced last year its plan to hire blockchain investigators to tackle crypto crimes in collaboration with the Complex Financial Crime Team (CFTC).
