Unstoppable Domains, renowned for its vast registry of domain names, and Push Protocol, an innovator in decentralized communication, combine their expertise to create a secure, token-gated Group Chat platform. This initiative marks a strategic move to provide crypto investors and enthusiasts with a more secure and reliable communication environment.
Token-gated group chat: A new era of secure communication
The Group Chat feature, a central aspect of this partnership, implements a token-gated system. This system is based on specific badges owned by users, ensuring that conversations are exclusive to individuals or team members who hold the relevant badge. This approach aims to foster a more secure and private communication space, reducing the risk of misinformation and fraudulent activities.

According to Carter, Group Chat is more than just a messaging tool; it’s a revolutionary way for teams and communities to interact, make decisions, and share information rapidly, privately, and securely. The platform’s design limits access to specific communities based on users’ immutable and verifiable blockchain history, adding an extra layer of security and privacy.
At launch, text-based group chats will be accessible for all 439 Unstoppable Badges. Users can join eligible groups, such as those for which they hold a badge, via their ud.me/profile.
Enhanced User Experience and Automated Group Membership
Unstoppable Domains also revealed that the group chat feature is available on both their mobile and web apps, allowing username owners to form badge-gated group chats. This feature, developed using Push Protocol’s Web3 communication system, represents a significant enhancement over previous communication options.
The badge-gating feature is designed to curtail the spread of misinformation in crypto groups, enabling private and decentralized communication among verified community members and project teams. Group admins can restrict membership to members who hold certain badges, awarded based on verifiable on-chain characteristics. Over 400 groups have been created at launch, catering to various interests within the crypto community.
Group moderators can use blockchain criteria to determine automatic membership, such as owning a number of nonfungible tokens or completing certain courses. While membership is semi-automated, moderators retain full control over group messaging, ensuring a balanced and secure communication environment.
