Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, on December 11, extended an invitation to Nvidia, a leading US chip giant, to invest in the country’s semiconductor and AI projects. Vietnam’s pledge to NVIDIA’s investment
Minister Dung, recognizing Vietnam’s immense potential in the semiconductor and AI sectors, urged Nvidia to boost research and development (R&D) activities in the country. He proposed the establishment of semiconductor and AI projects, R&D centers, and labs at the National Innovation Centre (NIC) and high-tech parks. Dung also emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese engineers, promoting internships at Nvidia, and establishing incubators for local semiconductor firms.
Also, he encouraged Nvidia to expand cooperative and investment projects, fostering a supportive ecosystem for Vietnam’s burgeoning semiconductor and AI industries. The Minister highlighted the vital role of a conducive environment and close coordination between government agencies and businesses in propelling the spearhead industries forward. This collaborative approach, he believes, will not only improve Vietnam’s competitive edge but also position it as a leading innovation center in the region.
NVIDIA’s commitment to Vietnam
Jensen Huang, President and CEO of Nvidia, reciprocated the enthusiasm, praising Vietnam’s potential and opportunities in semiconductor and AI industries. He expressed the readiness of Nvidia to deepen its partnership with Vietnam, considering the country its second homeland. In a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Jensen Huang disclosed Nvidia’s desire to set up a base in Vietnam, further cementing the company’s commitment to contributing to the country’s technological advancement.
